John is a fifth-generation resident of Indianapolis and is past president of the Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood Association (BTNA). John grew up in the mid-north section of the city where he attended grammar school and graduated from Brebeuf High School. John graduated from Regis University with a B.A. in Sociology and the University of Michigan where he earned a masters in Social Work with a focus in Social Policy and Planning.

John currently serves as the Vice President of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs at a local health plan serving the Medicaid population. Prior to his most recent position, John was Senior Program Officer at the Center for Health Care Strategies, Managed Care Director for the State of Indiana’s Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning. John has also served as a policy consultant for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, and has significant experience in the nonprofit sector. For several years John has worked as a site visitor and reviewer for the Innovations in American Government Awards Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

John has a long history of community volunteerism. In addition to his work leading BTNA John serves on the board of Project Home Indy, the policy committee ofUnited Cerebral Palsy of Greater Indiana, and the advisory committee for the Historic Midtown Initiative (HARMONI).
